Lake Placid resort adds anniversary getaway to wedding package


The new High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, N.Y., is offering a free, 1-year anniversary getaway to couples who book their wedding at the resort by Nov. 15.

The anniversary special features a one-night stay and dinner at the resort's Reflections Restaurant.

For the wedding, High Peaks Resort offers the services of a personal planner, a site for the rehearsal dinner plus a wedding reception with white linen table service in a ballroom that accommodates up to 800 guests. The ballroom features a wireless microphone system and multi-zone, adjustable lighting.

The wedding planner provides referrals for hair and makeup stylists, flower designers and photographers in the area.

Weddings start at $99 per person. Rehearsal dinners range from $39 to $69 per person.

Bridal couples and guests who wish to stay at the resort are offered the best rate available, a spokeswoman said. A guest suite for the bride and groom on their wedding night and customized honeymoon packages are available.

A sample two-night honeymoon package includes wine, fruit and chocolates upon arrival, in-room breakfast each morning and dinner in the Reflections restaurant. The sample honeymoon package is also available for couples under the Romancing the Peaks package plan. Rates vary with the season and start at $349, based on double occupancy.

High Peaks Resort is located on the site of the former Lake Placid Hilton. The resort has three indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and a spa. For dining, in addition to Reflections Restaurant, the resort features the casual Dancing Bears restaurant with street-side seating.

Accommodations include 79 guest rooms with double queen beds and 54 with king beds, several with fireplaces, whirlpool tubs and direct waterfront access. All rooms have European-style bathrooms with walk-in showers and Molton Brown of London amenities; flat-screen televisions; wireless and wired high-speed Internet access and multifunction music systems with MP3 players and movies.

The area offers a line-up of winter sports activities, hiking, bicycling, swimming, golf, shopping, sightseeing and historic Olympic venues.
