Luxury hotels and travel companies are responding to the growing demand for private jet travel with packages that range from round-the-world trips to special weekends close to home.
For travelers looking to visit some of the world’s more exotic destinations in comfort, Lakani Tours recently added two luxury private tours in India and Africa.
In January, Lakani offers a 15-day private trip across southern and eastern Africa. This $70,000 trip, in a private jet that normally seats 40 but has been custom-fitted with luxurious leather seats for the smaller group, includes the sights and wildlife viewing in South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Zambia.
Highlights include dining by candlelight in the Namibian dunes, viewing the wildlife of the Serengeti by hot air balloon, observing mountain gorillas in their forest habitat, touring Victoria Falls by helicopter, taking elephant rides and interacting with captive-bred lions in a conservation program. The trip ends in Cape Town with a home-hosted dinner with a local family, a private yacht excursion to Robben Island and a helicopter flight to the Cape Point Nature Reserve.
Accommodations are in intimate lodges, tented camps and hotels like Four Seasons Safari Lodge in the Serengeti and Governor's Camp Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge near the Parc National des Volcans.
In February, Lakani operates “Intriguing India,” a $50,000 trip that takes 14 guests across India, also in a custom-fitted private jet.
The trip departs Mumbai on Feb. 23 and ends in Delhi on March 5, visiting Bollywood and the art and architecture in Mumbai, Agra and the Taj Majal, Rajasthan, Amritsar and Delhi.
It includes a Taj-view room at Amarvilas, the opportunity to participate in an elephant polo match in the gardens of the City Palace in Jaipur, the Golden Temple in Amritsar and a rickshaw ride in Delhi. Accommodations include the Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai, Rajvilas Hotel in Jaipur and the Leela Palace in Delhi.
But not every private jet trip has to be that expensive, or exotic.
Two upscale Florida properties, for example, are offering a coast-to-coast trip: Meaning, both of Florida’s coasts.
Jupiter Beach Resort and The Resort at Longboat Key, both Ocean Properties resorts, partnered with Aura Jets to offer a vacation that lets people enjoy the beaches on both sides of Florida.
Starting at $10,000, it includes two nights in suites at each resort, private jet travel in between, limousine transfers and champagne, of course.
