The Travel Industry Association's annual International Pow Wow,
being held in Miami this year, is still some ways off -- it runs
May 15 to 19. It's on my mind already, however, since I will be the
editor responsible for producing the Pow Wow Daily magazine
published for delegates each day of the event. (Travel Weekly
produces the publication in cooperation with TIA.)
The association is doing something special this year that will
affect the lives of many people.
It and the National Football League together committed $250,000
to sponsor a 10-home project for families in the Little Haiti
section of Miami.
The project was inspired by Habitat for Humanity, a national
organization committed to affordable housing for the poor.
A huge beach party to celebrate the project will be held at
Penrod's in Miami's South Beach on May 15 for registered
International Pow Wow delegates. Sounds like a great time for a
great cause. See you there.
