Just three months after the California Supreme Court overturned a state ban on same-sex marriage, gay couples planning to take the leap will get celebrity treatment at a wedding show of a kind usually reserved for, well, celebrities.
GBK Productions -- an event productions company specializing in celebrity events, upscale weddings and fundraising for major charitable organizations -- and Rrivre Works, an event designer for the entertainment industry, will present “Same Sex in the City – The Wedding Show” on Aug. 17 at the Sofitel Los Angeles and Sept.7 at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs.
The show, the first of its kind in Southern California and a first for GBK Productions, will offer guests the assistance of wedding professionals as they browse through an assortment of wedding services while sipping martinis. A grand prize drawing of $10,000 in wedding services will be awarded at each show. At the Sofitel show, jeweler Azature will give away a $1,200 set of wedding rings.
GBK Productions is known throughout Hollywood for its celebrity gift suites. Gift suites are charitable/promotional events that bring together top names in entertainment and top brand manufacturers willing to pay up to $10,000 to associate their products with the stars. The most prominent GBK gift suites are held in conjunction with the Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
Tickets for the wedding show are available before the event and at the door for $10 per person. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the LA. Gay & Lesbian Center. For more information, visit www.samesexinthecity.com or for tickets, contact Carla Doman at [email protected].
