Sandals unveils Luxury Included promotion for agents

In an unusual move, Sandals Resorts threw a high-powered pitch to travel agents: a chance to earn a free, six-day Luxury Included vacation getaway.

Agents who book six honeymoon or wedding vacations with a six-night minimum stay through Dec. 1 for travel through Aug. 30, 2009, will receive a six-night stay at any one of the 12 Luxury Included Sandals Resorts in Antigua, the Bahamas, Jamaica and St. Lucia.

The Luxury Included vacation is the Caribbean resort company’s newest brand and targeted at the luxury leisure, honeymoon and bridal markets.

 “There is no better way for travel agents to understand our brand and relay the message to consumers than to experience a Luxury Included vacation for themselves,” said Kevin Froemming, president of Unique Vacations, the worldwide representative for Sandals Resorts.

“Sandals Resorts knows and appreciates the value of a great travel agent,” he added. “This is our way of saying thank you and sharing the company’s success with those who helped make Sandals Resorts what it is today.”

Although a spokeswoman said the company is reporting good numbers during what is typically a slow period in the region, the promotion of Luxury Included enables Sandals to target travelers that are less affected by economic deterrents.

The luxury market is expected to help fill the void left by mid-market and low-end travelers this fall, according to Michael Youngman, former director of marketing for the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
