When Scrub Island, a $100 million resort on a private island in the British Virgin Islands, opens early next year, it will offer travel agents and wedding planners a new destination to promote to their wedding and honeymoon clients.
The first resort development in the British Virgin Islands in more than 15 years, Scrub Island will present a variety of settings for wedding ceremonies, ranging from seaside options to indoor venues. Among the outdoor options for vow exchanges are backdrops with views of the Great Camanoe Islands and Marina Cay, three white-sand beaches, a private catamaran and a Greek-style amphitheatre 200 feet above the sea.
Brides can choose to have their wedding catered by Zagat-rated chef David Miller at Antilia by Savant Fine Dining, the island’s premier restaurant. Antilia will have only 10 tables.
Scrub Island recently partnered with Miller and Savant Fine Dining of Clearwater, Fla., where Miller is executive chef. The restaurant was named one of America’s Top Restaurants by Zagat in 2008.
Miller’s resume includes Marriott, Syrah International and the Peninsula Inn & Spa, where he earned the status as one of the Top Hundred Rated Restaurants in America by Zagat. Prior to opening Savant Fine Dining, he served as the executive chef at the Angelus Resort in the West Indies, overseeing Le Caribe, the highest-rated restaurant in St. Kitts.
For honeymooning, the resort offers 66 accommodations on the 230-acre island, with amenities that include a world-class spa, four restaurants and bars and a 60-slip marina.
