The seven Ski Lake Tahoe resorts reported a 17% increase in skier visits for the 2009-10 winter season, more than four times the national average and the area's second-busiest season on record.

Factors for the strong numbers include the long season, which ran from Halloween through July 4 at some resorts; snowfalls of more than 600 inches; discounted vacation packages; and reliable air service into Reno-Tahoe Airport, which has never had a snow closure.

Ski Lake Tahoe resorts are Alpine Meadows, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort and Squaw Valley USA.
