Starwood Hotels & Resorts said it is keeping its promise to expand all of its brands in Latin America with a plan to build a third St. Regis property in Mexico.
The hotel company said it would open the St. Regis Kenai Resort & Residences about six miles from Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya region in 2011.
Starwood currently operates the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort along the Bahia de Banderas in the state of Nayarit and will open the St. Regis Mexico City in June.
The St. Regis Kenai "represents a critical milestone for Starwood as we continue to build on our industry-leading presence in the luxury and upper-upscale segments in Latin America," said Osvaldo Librizzi, president of Starwood's Latin America division.
The St. Regis Kenai will feature 124 guestrooms and suites, 32 villas, four restaurants, the St. Regis brand's Remede Spa, oceanfront swimming pools and two 18-hole golf courses designed by golf pros Jose Maria Olazabal and Nick Faldo.
Other facilities will include 15,000 square feet of event space, including a 10,000-square-foot main ballroom. Amenities specific to the St. Regis brand will include the St. Regis Butler Service.
The property will be owned by ALHEL and GIM Desarrollos and managed by Starwood. Visit www.stregis.com or www.starwoodhotels.com.
