Taxi driver returns wedding gifts left behind

A New York City couple can relax on their honeymoon in Mexico, now that an honest cab driver has returned the gifts they left behind on their wedding day.

According to the New York Daily News, New York cabbie Haron ur Rashid on Monday returned a box full of checks and other mementos to the Manhattan apartment building where newlyweds Christine Herrick and David Fitzhenry live. He reportedly discovered the container in his trunk on Sunday, after his shift.

Rashid waited a day for someone to claim the box, reported the Daily News. Then he opened it and found it full of envelopes. He opened one of the envelopes to find an address, then drove to the apartment building and handed the box to the doorman.

However, the cabbie’s good deed was only discovered Tuesday evening, when a relative of Fitzhenry stopped a taxi with a Pepsi ad on its roof, like the one where the container was lost. He found Rashid and called off the search, said the Daily News.

The newlyweds, who considered canceling their honeymoon because of the lost box, were reportedly informed of the good news.
