That darn rat

Some stories just need to be told straight. This is one of them. A woman on board an Air New Zealand flight from Los Angeles to Auckland was somewhat taken aback to find that she had a rat on her lap.

Apparently, a crew member spotted the rodent shortly after takeoff but the critter got away, taking refuge somewhere in the back of the plane. Later on, a woman in business class felt some foreign sensation on her right leg, whipped off her blanket and, you got it, there was the rat.

I guess the woman must have startled the poor rat, which took off again. A search party was organized but came up empty, though the culprit was spotted once more, scurrying around the cabin somewhere over Tahiti.

The rat was never found. The woman will be compensated by the airline. The plane was grounded for a day and fumigated. And there you have it.
