RESPONDING TO AN INCREASE in demand for its India
programs, Abercrombie & Kent opened a destination management
office in Jaipur, India. According to A&K President George
Morgan-Grenville, the company has seen a 217% increase in its India
business in 2005 over the previous year. Morgan-Grenville said the
increase in popularity is driven in part by the development of
high-end hotels. A&Ks new office offers cultural experiences as
well as wildlife adventures, according to the company. A&K also
has offices in Delhi and Agra.
THE THIRD GLOBAL SUMMIT on Peace Through Tourism,
which will be held at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort in Pattaya,
Thailand, Oct. 2-5, will include a session to discuss a sustained
travel industry response to the social and economic revitalization
of the regions affected by last years tsunami. Featured keynote
speakers on the panel include representatives of government tourism

CHINA SOUTHERN AIRLINES expanded its route system
to three cities of Inner Mongolia: Hailar, Manzhouli and Xilin Hot.
The three cities comprise what is known as the Golden Triangle of
the Grasslands. The airline now provides service from its hub in
Guangzhou to Hailar on Thursdays and Sundays, to Manzhouli on
Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Xilinhot on Mondays and Fridays. Routes
to all three cities will have stops in Hohhot.
