AIR-INDIA is embarking on a $7 billion expansion plan, including the acquisition of 50 new Boeing aircraft, including 737s, 777s and 787-medium capacity long-range Dreamliner aircraft that seat 250 passengers. The company is also on the verge of approving an additional $1.2 billion expansion for its budget airline, Air India Express. The airline plans to have a fleet of 74 aircraft by 2013. Air-India recently doubled its capacity to Europe and the U.K., increased its U.S. flights to 28 per week and resumed service to Canada with three weekly flights to Toronto.
