CONRAD
HOTELS & RESORTS signed a management agreement with
Grupo IMOCOM to open its first resort hotel in Europe, to be
located in the Algarve region of Portugal. The 158-room property
will be located near some of the area's top golf courses and about
six miles from Faro Airport. The hotel, set to open in 2010, will
double the number of Hilton Hotels Corp. resorts in the Algarve,
following the recent opening of the Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas
Golf Resort & Spa in July.
TRAVEL
AGENTS who book a group of 16 or more on a Globus, Cosmos,

THE REZIDOR
HOTEL GROUP, the Brussels-based hotel management company,
inked an agreement for the 100th Park Inn hotel, slated to open in
the summer of 2009 in Aberdeen, Scotland. The Park Inn Aberdeen
will feature 184 rooms, a restaurant and bar, eight meetings rooms
and a fitness center. Additional Rezidor projects under development
include Park Inn hotels in Springfield Quay, Glasgow and at
Edinburgh Airport, both set to open in 2009.
LIVERPOOL,
ENGLAND, is gearing up to celebrate its tenure as a 2008
European Capital of Culture, which will include a yearlong roster
of activities designed to highlight the city's heritage. Events
will be on tap focusing on everything from art and architecture to
music and sports. Highlights will include a 10-day film festival at
FACT (the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) multimedia
complex, the newly opened International Slavery Museum and the

GOLDEN
TULIP HOSPITALITY added a seaside hotel, the Golden Tulip
Noordwijk De Duinen, to its Netherlands hotel management portfolio.
Located several minutes from the beach, golf courses and Noordwijk
city center, the hotel is targeting both business and leisure
travelers. The 41-room property is being expanded to 71 rooms and
is set to open April 1. Golden Tulip currently franchises and
manages 81 hotels in the Netherlands with more than 7,500 rooms in
57 cities.
