Travel Weekly's Hawaii E-letter: April 23, 2007

GAYLORD ENTERTAINMENT, which owns the ResortQuest vacation home management business, agreed to sell its Hawaii operation, ResortQuest Hawaii, to Interval Acquisition Corp., an IAC business, for $109.1 million in cash. The transaction involves 28 properties and 4,500 rental units. The closing is expected to occur during the second or third quarter of this year. Gaylord has said it was looking to maximize the value of its business for shareholders, and it determined that selling the Hawaii business was the best way to extract the most value. Miami-based Interval, also a specialist in vacation home services, has a network of more than 2,200 resorts in 79 countries.

THE SHERATON WAIKIKI has completed a $55 million room renovation that is being marketed with the launch of the "Discover Aloha Experience." The program is part of a brand repositioning for a number of Starwood properties in Hawaii that takes aim at enhancing the guest experience with activities like poolside "dive-in" movies and sunset country line dancing, daily cultural classes in the lobby and retail areas featuring products made in Hawaii.

THE FOUR SEASONS RESORT MAUI has completed a $50 million upgrade that included remodeled rooms and bathrooms and the addition of Duo as the hotel's signature restaurant. The hotel is offering complimentary fifth night on daily rates that start at $570. The offer is valid May 9 to June 30 and Sept. 1 to Dec. 18 (blackout dates: Nov. 17 to 25). Call (800) 332-3442 or visit www.fourseasons.com/maui.

BUDGET'S Unlimited Budget program offers travel agents double points in Budget's loyalty program by booking clients at either the Doubletree Alana Hotel Waikiki or the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa through May 31. Points are awarded based on paid hotel stays and are accumulated on the UB MasterCard Stored-Value Card. Once an agent reaches a 10-point threshold ($10) the UB MasterCard Stored-Value Card is mailed to the agent with the $10 loaded.

THE ILIKAI HOTEL has introduced the Spring Special Room & Car package, with rates that start at $210, including room, car and valet parking. Call (800) 468-3571 or visit www.ilikaihotel.com.
