HYATT CORP. has made a $445 million bid for the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa, currently owned by Japan's bankrupt Azabu Buildings Co. Other bids are anticipated before the March 12 sale date set by the bankruptcy court.

HAWAIIAN AIRLINES has introduced the Hawaii Travel Gift Program, which makes available gift certificates that can be purchased online, at grocery stores in the Islands and at Safeway stores in the nine markets served by the airline: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Phoenix and Las Vegas. HONOLULU'S BISHOP MUSEUM will unveil an exhibit entitled "Lost Maritime Cultures: China and the Pacific," from Feb. 24 to April 15. The exhibition explores connections between ancient China and islands in the South Pacific. The exhibit includes rare cultural treasures on loan from China. Recent genetic discoveries have determined that Southeast China is the original homeland of the Polynesians, Melanesians, Micronesians and the indigenous people in Southeast Asia archipelagos.
