THE RITZ-CARLTON KAPALUA'S spa reopens on June 16 with $180 million in renovations. Some of the 15 treatment rooms open to private outdoor shower gardens. There also are two couples' cabanas, steam rooms, saunas, whirlpools and a lava stone grotto. The spa also offers Hawaiian-based treatments like lomilomi massage and Hawaiian healing treatments.

UNITED is adding 10 flights between Hawaii and the mainland, beginning June 15. It will add three daily flights to Honolulu, four to Maui, two to Kauai and one to Kona on the Big Island. The Hawaii market remains strong despite record-high jet fuel costs, a company spokesperson said.

TRAVELERS heading to Hawaii this summer and fall will have several options to save on their vacation with a new travel promotion launched by the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and its partners. Travelers will save between $200 and $1,000 on packages with American Airlines Vacations, American Express Vacations, Classic Vacations, Expedia, NWA WorldVacations, Orbitz, Pleasant Holidays, Travelocity and United Vacations. The offers include discounted air, free hotel room nights, free meals, free rental cars, and food-and-beverage dining credits. The HVCB has a dedicated website listing of the packages at

HAWAIIAN AIRLINES had nearly a 27% increase in the number of passengers it carried in May. The airline carried 740,865 passengers for the month compared with 583,975 in May 2007. Hawaiian recorded a 4.8% increase in revenue passenger miles.
