Travel Weekly's Hawaii E-letter: Nov. 26, 2007

HAWAII SUPERFERRY is now accepting reservations on runs between Honolulu and Maui, starting Dec. 1. The restart of service has been made possible by court rulings that call for modifications to service while an environmental study on its impact is being conducted. For the moment, service to Kauai remains suspended.

MESA AIR GROUP, parent of interisland carrier Go Airlines, has posted a $90 million bond required by the presiding bankruptcy court while it appeals an $80 million judgment against it in a lawsuit brought by Hawaiian Airlines. Posting the bond allows the airline to continue service while it appeals the court ruling.

THE GRAND WAILEA Resort Hotel & Spa has added luxury town homes in Hoolei, a newly developed gated community adjacent to the hotel. Called Grand Wailea at Hoolei, the property has its own pools, fitness center, sauna and concierge service. A free shuttle links the town homes and the hotel. Call (877) 3-HOOLEI or visit

AMERICAN SAFARI CRUISES is marketing seven-night cruises between the Big Island and Maui aboard its newest yacht, the 36-passenger Safari Explorer. The yacht's maiden sailing is in December 2008. A new brochure is being mailed to agents, listing sail dates and prices through 2010. Cruise activities include hiking, kayaking, shore-boat exploration, snorkeling and scuba. High-end properties can be included for extended stays. Call (888) 862-8881 or visit

BIKE VOLCANO, on the Big Island, has added a Kilauea Volcano & Wine Tasting Tour. The downhill, summit-to-sea ride includes time exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, followed by a visit to Volcano Winery. The tour includes all equipment, lunch, an interpretive guide and van support. The tour is commissionable at $130 per cyclist and $100 per van rider. Call (888) 934-9199 or visit
