Travel Weekly's Hawaii E-letter: Oct. 2, 2006

CREATIVE LEISURE INTERNATIONAL is highlighting free-night rates on select fall bookings through mid-December. The Sheraton Maui Resort and the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa are both offered with a fourth night free. On Oahu it's a fifth night free at the Kahala, with a similar offer at the Kona Village Resort on the Big Island. Call (800) 413-1000 or visit

ISLAND AIR has cut back on a planned fleet expansion, citing the impact of fare wars and the competition for passengers triggered by Go's entry into the interisland market. Go has offered fares as low as $19, which have been matched by Hawaiian and Aloha. Rather than expand, Island Air is replacing its one 78-passenger Bombadier Q400 with a 37-passenger Dash-8.

THE ALA MOANA HOTEL is offering a fall rate of $139, valid through Dec. 21, for rooms in the Waikiki Tower. Recently renovated and converted to timeshare ownership, the hotel has nearly 1,000 units in its vacation rental program. Call (800) 367-6025 or visit

THE KAHALA HOTEL is offering an Agent Appreciation Rate of $199 to all IATA member travel agents. Offered through Dec. 15, it includes an upgrade to best available room category at time of check-in. Call (800) 367-2525 or visit

THE MAUNA LANI RESORT on the Big Island's Kohala Coast is extending its Summer Discovery Special through Dec. 19. The special offers oceanview accommodations at $370 ($300 off the published rate) and deluxe oceanview at $400 ($315 off the published rate). There is a three-night minimum. Call (800) 367-2323 or visit
