UPDATE: The Travel Institute and the Adventure Travel
Trade Association formed an alliance that will, among other things,
deliver an introductory Adventure Travel Specialist workshop during
the Oct. 16 to 18 Adventure Travel World Summit in Seattle. Helen
Nodland, a certified travel counselor and founder of Nodland Travel
Enterprises, will present the workshop. Introduced earlier this
year by the Travel Institute, the Adventure Travel Specialist
course was modeled after Virtuoso's Adventure Travel Consultant
certification program. Both the Virtuoso and the Institute's
adventure courses were authored by Nodland. For details, visit www.thetravelinstitute.com.
IN OTHER TRAVEL INSTITUTE news, the educational
firm said every new enrollment in its Gay and Lesbian Travel
Specialist Course will receive a complimentary one year
subscription to either "Jane" or "Details" magazine. The gay and
lesbian travel niche represents a $54 billion market. Enrollees in
the course will learn how to identify gay and lesbian travelers;
qualify new clients and determine certain travel preferences;
identify the top gay destinations in the U.S. and abroad; build a
presence in the gay and lesbian community; and create a
gay-friendly environment. Learn more about the course at www.thetravelinstitute.com.
