Travel Weekly's Home-based Agent E-letter: December 12, 2005

CHECKING IN WITH CRUISE PLANNERS: The bookings level for the holiday vacation week, between Christmas and New Years weekends, is shaping up just slightly ahead of last year for franchise operators, according to Cruise Planners President Marvin Davis. The Coral Springs, Fla.-based franchisor, which counts many home-based travel entrepreneurs, also reported that some last-minute reservations are still coming in for the festive week.

DAVIS said that advance bookings for 2006 cruises are "looking very good." The firms retail franchisees, he added, are not seeing an overabundance of bargain hunters. Rather, Davis said, customers want to book higher-priced cabins than in the past. Apparently people are feeling better off than in previous years," he said.
