VAX VACATIONACCESS added a hotel-only booking tool to its platform. The technology is designed for researching and booking hotels within the VAX system. According to the company, the tool will help agents book complex, multi-stop itineraries and vacation packages for small groups, in addition to accommodations-only bookings. The Hotel Only tool offers up to 10% commission for bookings. VAX VacationAccess is part of TriSept Solutions, the technology arm of Mark Travel.

CELEBRITY CRUISES is courting home-based travel agents with a new program called [email protected], offering a series of regional learning events, an online training series, a ship tour and luncheon for agents and their clients. The program will take place in March and June and include 11 events on six ships in five homeports across North America. Dondra Ritzenthaler, Celebrity's senior vice president of sales, said at-home agents have "expressed interest in bringing prospective clients onboard so they can see firsthand what we have to offer." Each program includes an escorted tour of the ship by a Celebrity Cruises sales representative, a brief brand-update presentation and lunch. DATEBOOK: The OSSN Houston Chapter will meet on Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. for a presentation by Travel Insured International. The chapter will welcome OSSN agents as well as non-members at Joe's Crab Shack (12400 Gulf Freeway). The meeting cost is free for members and is $10 for non-members. Cynthia Perry, Travel Insured's vice president of sales, will discuss the company's products and services. IN YOUR POCKET: Tuscan Way, a tour company that operates trips focusing on cooking instruction, will pay agents commission up front, at the time full payment is made on a reservation. The company offers eight cooking school locations in the Tuscany region of Italy. Agents can deduct their commission from a client's full payment.
