Travel Weekly's Home-based Agent E-letter: Jan. 17, 2005

LOOKING AHEAD: Joanie Ogg, president of the National Association of Commissioned Travel Agents (Nacta) and Travelsellers.com, has a busy year ahead of her. Nacta's Supplier Awareness Campaign will continue to be a priority. "In 2002, we began the campaign to enable the supplier community to learn more about and work more closely with the home-based agency community," said Ogg. Nacta also will aim to assist those contemplating making the move to a home office. "We will be offering several seminars and industry presentations this year on the topic of moving one's business from a storefront environment to a home-based world of opportunity," she said.

ASTA and Nacta's Cruisefest 2005 will be held April 7 to 10 in Miami and will be the first joint, co-branded conference for the two organizations, said Ogg. "We are able to meet the needs and answer to all types of travel professionals between our two memberships, and we look forward to a successful venture and more to follow." More details are on line at www.astanet.com. Meanwhile, Ogg said Nacta plans to redesign its members-only Web site to feature more information in a "very user-friendly format." More information on all of Nacta's programs is online at www.nacta.org.
