Travel Weekly's Home-based Agent E-letter: May 16, 2005

US AIRWAYS VACATIONS rolled out a two-pronged incentive program for home-based agents, with rewards that include bonus commission, training, product updates, fam trips and marketing assistance. According to the operator, the more retailers sell the more rewards they receive. Gold Level participants can earn up to 15% pay and are eligible for personal-use travel vouchers, based on passenger counts. Also, if a minimum of $50,000 in net sales is reached by the end of the year, at-homes become eligible for 1% of their net sales to be used for cooperative advertising in 2006.

AT THE SILVER LEVEL, agents can earn up to 13% pay and receive periodic promotion codes by e-mail, designed to help retailers close sales. Participants in both levels can participate in Ask the Sales Department conference calls that will take place every other month. Interested agents can contact sales administration for an application or additional information on qualifying for the programs. E-mail [email protected] or call (800) 451-6767.

JURNI NETWORK is taking a team approach to its annual conference this year. The event is set for July 14 to 17 at the Arizona Biltmore. All registered participants will be divided into teams that will include Jurni Network members, suppliers and staff. Each team will compete throughout the conference in a variety of contests that allow team members to accumulate points. Each team member may apply the points they accumulate during the conference toward awards in an incentive program that will be unveiled at the conference.

THE GROUP, a unit of Sabre Travel Network, was created in 2003 after Sabre acquired the assets of Nexion, a move that brought 750 independent agents to Jurni. Conference organizers said participants also will have "dedicated time" with supplier partners. Additionally, sessions will feature industry leaders and roundtable discussions with individual suppliers. Registrations will be accepted until June 15. For details, visit
