VACATION.COM arranged for members to receive a discounted rate for Amadeus e-Cruise, a cruise booking tool. The tool allows complete booking control from beginning to end, business reporting and daily operational monitoring for agencies. Based on a three-tier design, which includes a consumer booking engine controlled by the agency, agent booking engine and reporting tool, the Internet-based system requires minimal training, said the network.

IN OTHER VACATION.COM NEWS, Radius was named a preferred supplier. The agreement to make the Radius Preferred Hotel Rate Program available to member agents adds more than 11,000 individually contracted hotels in more than 2,400 cities. The properties are listed in the GDS under the WTT rate code. There is no fee to enroll in the Preferred Hotel Rate Program. The network also has recently signed Pleasant Holidays, Homeric Tours, Marriott International and London Gray Line, which includes Golden Tours and Frames Rickards Tours of London, as preferreds.

VACATION RENTALS 4 AGENTS, a Parsippany, N.J.-based supplier of accommodations in the U.S. and Europe, partnered with the Travel Institute's E-Learning Center to offer online training. As a bonus for participating, travel agents who complete the program can get a $50 bonus after their first booking with the company. Vacation Rentals 4 Agents is a unit of the RCI Global Vacation Network. The firm offers commissions ranging from 12 to 20 percent. Its online course will address the characteristics and benefits of a vacation rental, why booking vacation rentals makes sense, identifying vacation rental customers and resources to help book vacation rentals. THROUGH THE PORT HOLE: Independence of the Seas, the third in Royal Caribbean International's Freedom class of ships, will be based in Southampton, England, when it debuts in May 2008. The vessel will be the largest ship ever to be based in Europe and one of three largest ships in the world. The ship is under construction at Aker Yards in Turku, Finland.



Trip: Visits Bagan, Inle Lake, Mandalay and Yangon.

Departures: Every other Wednesday through Sept. 19 from Bangkok to Yangon via Myanmar Airways or Bangkok Airways.

Length: Eight nights.

Sponsor: Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board, Yangon.

Cost: $500 per person, double. Includes air within Asia, hotel, breakfast daily, transfers, sightseeing and entrance fees.

Noteworthy: The companion rate is $700; the single supplement is $100. In addition, there are two condensed, four-night trips being offered at reduced rates during the same months. Each of these add-on trips starts at $400 per agent.
