WEB LAUNCH: The U.S. division of Globus, which includes Globus, Cosmos, Monograms and Brennan Vacations, launched a Web site for home-based agents ( and plans to invest an unprecedented amount of resources into the segment, according to a spokeswoman. The site will sell Globus and Cosmos brand escorted tours and Monograms hosted vacations; currently, Brennan Vacations will not be sold on the site. The company also is providing the home-based segment a dedicated phone line and customized marketing material.

AGENTS CAN sign up at the site to become enrolled in the companys home-based agent network. The base commission rate is 10% but moves to the next bracket after just two vacations sold. The rate increases to 13% with sales over $7,500. As an introductory offer, Globus is awarding a $25 MasterCard Gift Card for every booking made and deposited on the Web site between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31.

AN EXTREME MAKEOVER CONTEST is making its way to home-based travel agents -- and to their home-based offices. Royal Caribbean International said its Extreme Home Office Makeover contest will give six winners -- one from each of Royal Caribbeans sales regions -- a complete makeover of their home offices. The winners each will get $1,000 towards a new office. Royal Caribbean said experts -- including teams from the lines new building and fleet operations department -- will help create attractive and functional spaces. Agents should send photos of their current home setup and a one-paragraph pitch on how a new office would help them sell more Royal Caribbean product, to [email protected] or by mail to Royal Caribbeans corporate headquarters, attention Chris DeSouza. Applications will be accepted through November.
