Travel Weekly's Home-based Agent E-letter: September 26, 2005

AIMING TO HELP member agents affected by Hurricane Katrina, many of whom are home-based, deferred billing for membership dues, technology fees and other charges for agencies with ZIP codes in areas that sustained heavy damage.

MEMBER agents in the affected regions are encouraged to contact's Membership Services Department at (800) 843-0733 to discuss ways in which the organization can be of assistance. Agencies should also provide a temporary address where can forward payments such as CruiseCentre commissions and other agency incentives.

IN OTHER KATRINA news, Delta Queen Steamboat Co. canceled the December sailings on the Delta Queen and the December, January and February sailings on the Mississippi Queen, while altering the November itineraries on both ships. The line said damage to the New Orleans area makes it impossible for the company to operate its regularly scheduled fall and winter cruises, which typically sail from New Orleans to towns along the southern Mississippi River.

ALSO, IATA and IATAN agreed to waive the 2006 Annual Service Fee of $65 per location for agencies in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. Agents who have inquiries on the policy can call IATAN at 877-734-2826.
