ANOTHER TONY AWARD-winning musical is making its way from Broadway to Las Vegas. Monty Pythons Spamalot, based on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, is set to open in 2007 in a custom-built 1,600-seat theater at the Wynn Las Vegas. According to the deal announced last week by the shows producers and resort creator Steve Wynn, Spamalot can call its Vegas digs Spamalot Experience and Grail Theatre home for 10 years if the hotel-casino picks up a three-year renewal option. The Las Vegas version of the show will be performed 12 times per week and will span 90 minutes, in contrast with the two-hour New York production, which won three 2005 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Ticket prices will range from $80 to $100. The Spamalot musical begin its national tour in Boston this March, although per the terms of the agreement, it will not tour in California, Nevada or Arizona.


MEANWHILE, the Broadway Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas is preparing to debut Avenue Q, the 2004 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, on Aug. 27. Actor/puppeteer John Tartaglia, whose work with the New York production earned him a Tony nomination, will appear in the Las Vegas show, scheduled to be performed at 8 p.m. on Aug. 27, from Aug. 29 to 31 and on Sept. 1 and 2. Show times will be 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sept. 3, 4, 6 and 7. And starting Sept. 9, the show will be performed regularly at those times Tuesdays through Saturdays. HENDERSONS LAKE LAS VEGAS RESORT has become the Silver States first authorized guided tour location for The excursions use Segway Human Transporters self-balancing, two-wheeled machines each with its own misting system to whisk guests around the resorts foothills and surrounding terrain. The two-hour tour, which is offered daily at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., is led by guides who use headsets to provide live narration, about the areas geology, plant and animal life and folklore. After a short orientation and training session at the resorts Celebration Plaza, tour participants will explore the resorts northern shore, zipping past the Ritz-Carltons gardens, across the Pontevecchio-style bridge, beyond the Hyatt Regency and into the Reflection Bay Gold Club for a rest. The tour then heads back along the cobblestone paths toward MonteLago Village for a little window-shopping on wheels. Reservations are required for the tour, which costs $96 per person. Guests must be at least 12 years old and weigh less than 250 pounds to participate in the tour. LAKE LAS VEGAS RESORTS SEGWAYS arent just used for sightseeing. The Ritz-Carlton now offers Segway Polo, using the transporters and soft foam mallets and balls as an outdoor corporate team-building activity. Teams of four to 12 players can play four eight-minute chukkers as part of a two-hour program managed by a staff that includes timekeepers, scorekeepers and umpires. The polo matches join several meetings and team-building events offered by the resort, including Adventure Triathlon, Catapult Challenge and Crime Scene Investigation.
