LAS VEGAS CENTENNIAL RECORDS: EMI Music Marketing plans an April launch for its commemorative record label, Las Vegas Centennial Records. The label will present a series of CDs spotlighting top performances from the citys famed nightspots, including the CD debut of classic concert albums such as Frank Sinatra: Live From the Golden Nugget, Dean Martin: Live From the Sands, and Bobby Darin: Live at the Flamingo. The label also will release High Rollers! a new collection of classic songs by the artists who made them famous, including previously unavailable tracks from Peggy Lee, Nelson Riddle and Sammy Davis Jr. 

MGM MIRAGE VACATIONS: To mark Las Vegas centennial celebration, MGM Mirage Vacations is offering travel agents an opportunity to win prizes and earn a cash-back incentive for booking the companys air-inclusive and hotel-only packages. Through Feb. 28, each air-inclusive vacation booked will represent two entries into the centennial contest, while hotel-only bookings will count as one contest entry. Winners will be selected the week of March 7. One grand prize will be awarded and includes roundtrip air for two; a two-night stay at the Bellagio; two tickets to Mystere or Zumanity and a $100 dining credit. Winners of the two runner-up prizes each will receive a two-night stay at TI or New York-New York and a $100 spending credit to be used at the selected resort. The three third-place prizes are 2% overrides for reservations booked within a 100-day period set by MGM Mirage Vacations. MGM GRAND: Guest host Usher, Paris Hilton and recording artists Maroon 5, Hoobastank, Nick Lachey and Petey Pablo were among those on hand earlier this month to celebrate the opening of Teatro in the MGM Grand. The night spot, billed as the citys first Euro bar, can accommodate 150 people; reserved seating is available for 85. For reservations, phone (702) 891-3695. Guest DJs Digital Boy and Leo Teo will ring in the new year along with dancers who will perform every half-hour between 11:30 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. Admission to the bars New Years Eve extravaganza, which begins at 8 p.m., is $100 per person in advance and $125 per person at the door. CASINO EXPANSION: As part of its $100 million, casino-wide expansion, the Silverton Casino Hotel Lodge debuted its connecting area that bridges the gap between the existing casino floor and the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World. The connector features an additional 30,000 square feet for gaming space, which includes new ticket-in, ticket-out slot machines, a revamped Players Club, a new pit and high-limit tables. The area also houses the Mermaid Restaurant & Lounge, which features a 117,000-square-foot saltwater aquarium complete with 8,000 tropical fish. The oversized tank also hosts a live mermaid show performed by 10 Olympic-medal-winning synchronized swimmers. The free show, which is five to 10 minutes in length, can be seen every hour from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
