THE GOLDEN
NUGGET HOTEL & CASINO in downtown Las Vegas has
completed a $60 million expansion. The hotel's latest addition
includes an events center, an expanded gaming floor, a new sushi
restaurant and a new nightclub called Gold Diggers, which boasts a
180-degree balcony with views of Fremont Street, the Fremont Street
Experience and the First Street outdoor performance stage.
THE
MIRAGE, meanwhile, has announced plans to launch a $110
million room redesign in early 2008. New design plans for Deluxe
and Tower Deluxe rooms include "a neutral color palette accented
with vibrant pops of color, cool metals and warm woods." Rooms will
feature one of four color schemes: ruby, orange, saffron or
mulberry. New amenities include pillow-top mattresses, down
comforters, 42-inch LCD televisions and iPod/MP3-compatible clock
radios. Deluxe King and Queen accommodations promise more subdued
colors: whites, browns and tans, and additional amenities like
fully stocked minibars and flat-screen, wall-mounted
televisions.
AAA
has released its 2007 list of coveted Four Diamond awards for the
Las Vegas area, and the group has grown to include four new
restaurants and three new hotels. New restaurants on the list are
Ciera Steak & Chophouse, Marssa, Mix and Stripsteak. New hotels
to make the list are Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, the
Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas and the Signature at MGM Grand. That
brings the number of Four Diamond-rated properties in Nevada to 21,
and the number of Four Diamond restaurants to 31. Zagat, meanwhile,
has released its latest guide to Las Vegas, "The Best of Las Vegas
2008 Guide." Top hotels, restaurants, attractions and more were
selected based on a survey of 5,279 participants, who chose the
Four Seasons, Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian and Ritz-Carlton Lake Las
Vegas as the top hotels.
