HARRAH'S has agreed to be acquired by
affiliates of Texas Pacific Group and Apollo Management L.P. in an
all-cash deal for $27.8 billion, including the assumption of $10.7
billion of debt. The purchase, which includes the Harrah's, Caesars
and Horseshoe brands, is expected to be completed in about a year.
LOEWS
HOTELS opened its first property in Nevada with the debut
of the Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort. Formerly the Hyatt Regency Lake
Las Vegas Resort, the property offers several new features,
including 42-inch flat-screen TVs in all guest rooms. The Japengo
restaurant has been renamed the Marrsa, and the ballroom space has
been renovated. The hotel, which is headed by new manager Dale
McDaniel, has opening rates through Dec. 31 that start at $199 for
a resort view room and $279 for an alcove suite. From Jan. 1
through April 30, rates range from $199 for a resort view room to

SIGNATURE at MGM Grand took the wraps off its second hotel
tower Dec. 20. Tower 1 opened this past June and Tower 3 is
expected to open in May. Each tower includes 576 suites. Rates
begin at $200 per night for a junior suite, $300 per night for a
one-bedroom suite and $510 per night for a two-bedroom suite. To
mark the opening of Tower 2, the hotel will offer guests the
opportunity to have their handwriting analyzed by an expert. The

REVOLUTION LOUNGE opened Dec. 22 at The Mirage. Inspired
by Cirque du Soleil's "Love" production at the resort, the lounge
