AIRPORT: Earlier this month, the
Clark County Department of Aviation and Aruba Wireless Networks
officials launched what they billed as the countrys largest free
wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) airport network 1.7 million square feet
of coverage at McCarran Airport. The new service provides travelers
with Wi-Fi-enabled computers and personal digital assistants
unlimited free high-speed Internet access around the clock from any
of the airports public areas. Free high-speed wireless service also
is available at North Las Vegas Airport and Henderson Executive
Airport, two general aviation facilities in the countys airport
system.
HOOTERS
AIR will inaugurate twice-weekly
service between the Greater Rockford Airport in Rockford, Ill., and
Las Vegas on Feb. 3. The new service will be operated by the Myrtle
Beach, S.C.-based carrier using Boeing 737 and Boeing 757 aircraft
and will feature Hooters Girls on every flight. Fares will start at

AMERICA WEST
AIRLINES: Starting March 1,
America West Airlines will begin jet service between Las Vegas and
Boise, Idaho, as well as Albuquerque, N.M. A sample fare of $60 per
person, one way is available for the Boise flights only if booked
online through www.americawest.com?c=12270816Boise. The fare is valid
for travel Tuesdays through Wednesdays and noon to midnight on
Saturdays and requires a 21-day advance purchase as well as a
one-night minimum stay. Travel must be completed by March 9. The
carrier last month also initiated another flight between Las Vegas
and Ontario, Calif., and will start additional service between Las
Vegas and Burbank, Calif., as well as Oakland, Calif., on Feb. 11.
America West Express, operated by Mesa Airlines, will provide the
new service using an 86-passenger Canadair Regional Jet 900
(CRJ900). Also on Feb. 11, America West will increase its
four-times-weekly service between Las Vegas and the Mexican cities
of Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos to daily service. More information

SERVICE: Californias Palmdale
Regional Airport, located in the Antelope Valley on a 60-acre site
on U.S. Air Force Plant 42, reopened late last month for scheduled
commercial air service when Scenic Airlines inaugurated nonstop
service between Palmdale and North Las Vegas Airport. For the past
six years, the Palmdale airport served as a commercial airport for
occasional charter operations. Scenic, which operates as both a
sightseeing tour operator and a regional air carrier, initially
will offer 10 weekly roundtrip flights using a 19-passenger De
Havilland Twin Otter Vistaliner aircraft. Regular fares will start
at $79 one way, but an introductory fare of $49 one way is being
offered. Scenics North Las Vegas terminal is a 25-minute drive from
the Las Vegas Strip. The carrier offers complimentary door-to-door
shuttle service between its terminal, hotels on the Strip and

MEXICANA
AIRLINES last month launched
thrice-weekly, nonstop service between Las Vegas and Los Cabos,
Mexico. Flights depart Las Vegas on Tuesdays, Thursdays and
