LAKE LAS VEGAS RESORT plans to break ground during the first quarter on Rainbow Canyon, its fourth golf course. The 18-hole, par-71 course will be designed by Tom Fazio and is expected to open in 2007. Located adjacent to the Reflection Bay Golf Club, the new course will measure more than 7,000 yards and will include such features as canyon settings, holes along Lake Las Vegas shoreline and elevation changes that will showcase Lake Mead, the Rainbow Gardens and Lake Las Vegas Resort.

CITY SLICKER: Through May 14, Showtime Tours which can be booked in conjunction with Funjet Vacations, Certified Vacations, Southwest Airlines Vacations, TransGlobal Vacations, Conquest Vacations, US Airways Vacations and United Vacations will offer City Slicker, a trail ride in Red Rock Canyon. After arriving at the working ranch located at the base of the Spring Mountain Range, participants will receive a picnic boxed lunch or continental breakfast, meet their horses and then set off accompanied by a professional wrangler-guide on the Old Spanish Trail north to Bushwhackers Canyon, an area known for its plantlife and wildlife. At the end of the 90-minute ride, participants will be taken to the Red Rock Canyon Visitors Center where they will embark on the 13-mile scenic loop before heading back to Las Vegas. The tour, which costs $79.99 per person, is offered during the afternoon on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tour participants must be at least 6 years old.
