REGISTRATION is now open for the inaugural
Las Vegas Marathon, which will be run Dec. 4. A fireworks display
set to Elvis Presleys rendition of Viva Las Vegas will kick off the
26.2-mile race, which is expected to attract elite athletes from
around the world with its $400,000 in cash prizes and appearance
fees. The event also will offer the worlds largest cash bonus $2.5
million which will be split evenly by any male and female runners
who break the world record. The race will begin and end at Mandalay
Bay Resort and Casino, the official property of the event. The
course will include the Strip as well as Fremont Street downtown.
Finishers will receive a specially designed medal as well as a
personalized certificate and official results book. Those who
