HOTELS will build its first Nevada property at the Lake
Las Vegas Resort in Henderson. The 400-room hotel will have 40
suites, 40,000 square feet of meeting space, two restaurants, a
lobby bar, a pool bar, two, outdoor pools with whirlpools, pool
cabanas, a kids club, a 20,000-square-foot spa and an exhibit
center. The grand opening is slated for 2008.
THE RAINBOW BAR & GRILL, a rock n roll-themed
bar and restaurant based on the landmark Hollywood venue, opened
its doors late last week across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel
& Casino. The 7,500-square-foot eatery, which sports red
leather booths and rock memorabilia on its walls, features a
full-service bar, two dining rooms with plasma TVs, an outside
patio and a main lounge for live entertainment.
THEY DONT CALL Las Vegas the wedding capital of
the world for nothing. Once Upon 100 Weddings, the product of a
partnership between the Centennial Committee and Southwest
Airlines, will feature 100 couples who will tie the knot under the
canopy of the Fremont Street Experience on June 9 as part of the
citys ongoing centennial celebration. Each couple is the recipient
of a four-day wedding package that includes roundtrip air, hotel
accommodations at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino, wedding
nuptials, bachelor and bachelorette parties and wedding gifts
provided by local retailers.
THE CINEVEGAS film festival will be held June 10
through 18 at the Palms Casino Resort and Brenden Theatres. Besides
the usual workshops and film screenings, festivities will include
an outdoor Viva Las Vegas party at the Palms Skin Pool Lounge and a
sidebar series of Las Vegas movies that honors the impact the city
has had on the movie industry during its 100 years of existence.
