Travel Weekly's Las Vegas E-letter: May 10, 2005

ANOTHER WYNN-ER: The newly opened Wynn Las Vegas resort added GOGO Worldwide Vacations to its list of preferred partners. Three-night vacation packages, available for travel from July 4 through Aug. 27, start at $539 from New York, $599 from Miami, $645 from Houston, $565 from Chicago (OHare) and $425 from Los Angeles. Per-person prices, based on double occupancy, include mid-week air, accommodations, ground transfers and hotel taxes.

SHOPPING JUST GOT a little more exciting, thanks to a variety of variety acts that have debuted at the Shops in Desert Passage, located next to the Aladdin. Joe Krathwohl, known as the Birdman of Las Vegas, Lilia, a contortionist, and Spirit, an acrobatic duo, are joined by other acts such as Duality, a body-balancing acrobatic act, and Jason Bird, who combines magic and comedy, to entertain shoppers each hour from 1:15 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. Thursday through Monday on the main stage near the V Theater. Solo pianists also are located throughout the mall, tickling the ivories every hour on the half hour from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. And from noon to 9 p.m. seven days a week, customer service ambassadors, also known as Segway hosts, can be seen zipping around the mall on their electric transportation devices offering help or information to shoppers, showcasing merchant products and, on occasion, joining in the variety acts.

THROUGH JUNE 30, the Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas is offering a crash course in how to get pampered in its own Spa Vita di Lago. Spa 101 Vegas-Style includes overnight accommodations in a resort-view room, breakfast for two at Medici Café & Terrace, overnight valet parking and four 25-minute sample spa treatments that can be enjoyed by one person or split between two guests per room. The package is priced at $289 per night, single or double, and includes a $20 per room, per night resort fee. To book, call (800) 241-3333 or visit www.ritzcarlton.com.

FOOTBALL FRENZY: Thanks to Funjet Vacations, arena football fans can choose from several ticket packet options for ArenaBowl XIX, a weekend of Arena Football League (AFL) events that culminates with the leagues championship game June 12 at the University of Nevada Las Vegas Thomas & Mack Center. The weekend literally kicks off on Friday, June 10, with the ArenaBattle Skills Challenge, held at the Orleans Hotel & Casino, in which AFL players compete by showing off their skills. The night will end with a celebrity flag-football game. The next day, fans will get a chance to see an as-yet-unnamed headliner band perform at the ArenaBash concert held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

FANS WHO BOOK a Funjet Vacations complete vacation to Las Vegas which boasts its own AFL team, the Gladiators -- can add ticket options to their trip ranging in price from $165 per person to $249 per person depending on the location of the seats. The add-ons can be booked through VAX VacationAccess at www.vaxvacationaccess.com, via all four electronic reservations systems using the vendor code FJV or by calling (800) 558-3050.
