Travel Weekly's Las Vegas E-letter: Sept. 4, 2007

JULY was the busiest month to date at Las Vegas's McCarran International Airport, according to airport officials. Nearly 4.3 million passengers arrived and departed from McCarran in July, an increase of almost 5% from July 2006. The previous record was set in March, when nearly 4.2 million passengers passed through McCarran. The boom is attributed in part to the growth of low-fare carriers like Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air. The burgeoning airline has grown to become the sixth largest carrier at McCarran, behind Southwest, US Airways, United, Delta and American.
