• American Eagle on April 7 launched daily, nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth Airport and Tampico, Mexico. The service is being operated aboard a 44-seat Embraer jet. The new route brings to 15 the number of cities that American flies to in Mexico. The outbound flight departs Dallas at 6:55 p.m. and arrives in Tampico at 9:05 p.m. The return flight departs Tampico at 7:30 a.m. and arrives in Dallas at 9:50 a.m.
• Mexicana said it accepted an invitation to join the Oneworld alliance. The process is expected to take up to 18 months to complete, during which time Mexicana said it will "adapt key internal processes necessary to conform to Oneworld requirements." Among other things, Mexicana must link its IT system to those of its Oneworld partners and carry out an extensive employee-training program. Mexicana's subsidiary, Click Mexicana, will also join the alliance. Mexicana and Click will add 26 destinations to the Oneworld network, including 24 in Mexico.
