HYATT WILL
RETURN TO MEXICO CITY after an absence of more than 20
years when the Park Hyatt Mexico City-Reforma opens in 2009. The
luxury, 150-room hotel, the first Park Hyatt in Mexico, will open
in the Capital Reforma development, a new, multiuse complex of
office space, shops and high-end residences. The hotel will feature
two restaurants, a lounge and bar, a two-floor spa and ample
meetings space. It will be managed by Hyatt and developed by GICSA,
a Mexico-based real estate development firm. Hyatt officials said
the Park Hyatt Mexico City-Reforma is the first in a series of new
properties the company is planning to add to its Mexico portfolio
during the next few years in both city and beach locations. Hyatt
International operates five hotels in Acapulco, Cancun, Merida and
Villahermosa.

WORLDWIDE VACATIONS launched its annual Mexico
Extravaganza promotion, featuring 145 resorts in 12 destinations.

STARWOOD
VACATION OWNERSHIP, a division of Starwood Hotels &
Resorts, said it broke ground on its second Westin-branded vacation
ownership property in Mexico, the Westin Los Cabos Ocean Villas.
The property will feature 64 two-bedroom villas and feature
signature Westin amenities including Heavenly Beds, a fitness
facility, restaurant and pools. Starwood Vacation Ownership has two
other resorts under development in Mexico, the Westin Lagunamar
Ocean Resort in Cancun and the St. Regis Residence Club, Punta
Mita.

MEXICANA
AIRLINES said it will launch nonstop service from
Portland, Ore., to Mexico City, effective June 1. The service will
be operated four times a week, departing Portland at 8 a.m. and
arriving in Mexico City at 3:25 p.m. The return flight will depart
Mexico City at 8:45 p.m. and arrive in Portland around midnight.
Mexicana currently flies nonstop from Portland to
Guadalajara.
