SPORTING CHANCES: Mexico's tourism ministry said the country is becoming a major sporting and nautical events venue. In 2004, some 30,000 people took part in such competitions in Mexico, and this year officials said 14 adventure events -- including Bike Adventure, Adventure Race, Expedition Mexican Caribbean and Xtreme Tour -- will take place in eight Mexican states. BEACH BINGO: Trendy beach club franchise Nikki Beach officially will open its fifth tropical partying outlet at the 150-room Melia San Lucas resort in Cabo San Lucas the first week of March. The new location, to be managed by Raul Almeida, also overseer of the Nikki Beach in Puerto Vallarta, had a soft opening this month.
