THE DESIRE RESORT & Spa Riviera Maya, a couples-only, clothing-optional resort, announced new amenities and service enhancements. Room upgrades include new tile floors, LCD screen TVs, glass shower doors, new headboards and new terrace lounge furniture. Room enhancements will be completed by March 31. Beach and pool enhancements include 16 new beach beds for a total of 48 lining the ocean-front, a new beach and pool concierge service, a new beach bar and a new section of beachside hammocks. A number of enhancements were also made to the resort's restaurants and its menu options. Room rates at Desire Resort & Spa Riviera Maya start at $200 a night, per person, all-inclusive. PUEBLO BONITO Oceanfront Resorts & Spas, which operates seven properties in Mexico, created a bonus commission program for travel agents. Under the program, Pueblo Bonito will pay a $125 bonus for every 10 rooms booked within a calendar year. The bonus applies for stays of at least four nights. VIVA AEROBUS, Mexico's newest low-cost carrier, filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation to operate daily flights from Monterrey, Mexico, to Gary/Chicago International Airport in Gary, Ind., later this summer. Gary would become Viva Aerobus' third U.S. gateway, following Austin, Texas, and Las Vegas. In order to accommodate Viva Aerobus, Gary Airport will have to provide a dedicated building with U.S. Customs facilities. ATA Airlines, which flies nonstop from Midway Airport to Mexico, is ending all flights to Mexico in June.

MEXICANA AIRLINES, meanwhile, will launch daily, nonstop flights from New York Kennedy to Monterrey, Mexico, on May 1. The airline will operate one daily flight between the two cities aboard an Airbus A319 with 12 seats in first class and 108 seats in coach.
