ON THE GREEN: Iberostar Hotels and Resorts, a founding member of the new Mexican Caribbean Golf Association, pushed back the opening of its new 18-hole, par-72 Playa Paraiso Golf Club golf course at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya on the Riviera Maya until June. The course was originally set to debut in May. Their new course will join nine others on the Riviera Maya and the island of Cozumel. WINDOW SEAT: Alaska Airlines won U.S. Transportation Dept. approval for Los Angeles-to-Mexico City service, and plans an Aug. 2 inaugural. The rights went up for grabs after Delta dropped the route in January; American, America West and Continental also applied. United still serves the route.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Dessert-lovers, head for Los Cabos. Abel Navarro, pastry chef of the Marquis Los Cabos, Beach, Golf, Spa and Casitas Resorts in Los Cabos was inducted into the Academie Culinaire de France (French Culinary Academy) on April 10, joining executive chef Thierry Dufour.
