AIRLINES said it would launch nonstop, daily flights from
Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta starting Dec. 2. The new service
will bring the number of Mexicanas flights from Los Angeles to
Mexico to 11. The new flights will depart Los Angeles daily at
10:05 a.m. and arrive in Puerto Vallarta at 2:55 p.m. Return
flights will depart Puerto Vallarta at 4:05 p.m. and arrive in Los
Angeles at 5:25 p.m. The new service will be operated aboard an
Airbus plane with room for 12 in business class and 108 in coach.
In other news, Mexicana Airlines instituted a fuel surcharge Nov.
12 for all flights between the U.S. and Mexico. The charge is $10
one-way or $20 roundtrip.

THE HEART
OF FRIDA, a collection of more than three dozen letters
and drawings by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, will open Jan. 11 at
the Queretaro Art Museum in Queretaro, in central Mexico. The
letters, written during the last four years of Kahlos life, dwell
on her relationship with her artist husband Diego Rivera, on her
politics and on the pain she endured as a result of more than 30
orthopedic surgeries. The exhibit was seen by more than 5,000
visitors when it debuted last year at the Casa Maxwell Gallery in
San Miguel de Allende. Kahlos letters
have been translated into English and appear next to the originals.
