ISLANDER COLLECTION, a Mexico-based hospitality management group, acquired five archaeological villas from Club Med for an undisclosed sum. The villas, located near Mexico's prominent cultural sites, feature 40 to 45 rooms each, swimming pools, full-service restaurants and modern conveniences. Club Med had operated the properties for more than 20 years. The five villas are the Arqueologica Villa Chichen Itza, Arqueologica Villas Coba, Villas Arqueologica Cholula, Villas Arqueologica Teotihuacan and Villa Arqueologica Uxmal.

LOS CABOS is gearing up for a couple of culinary-themed events during the next two months. From Dec. 1 to 8, a number of the destination's resorts are offering packages to the Festival of Rhythm, Color & Flavor. Participating properties are offering a package starting at $642 per person, double, for a minimum three-night hotel stay, including tickets to two public events that will include live music and traditional Mexican fare. In addition, Mexicana Airlines is offering a discounted fare with the purchase of a Culinary Festival package to the event. MEANWHILE, THE FOUR-DAY Cabo San Lucas International Wine Festival will be hosted by the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort & Spa, Jan. 16 to 19. The event will feature some 100 wines presented by winemakers from around the world as well as cooking demonstrations, wine-theme dinners and a lunch celebrating the wines of Mexico. Festival activities will take place at three of Pueblo Bonito's properties in Cabo San Lucas, with complimentary transportation between the resorts. AMERICAN SAFARI CRUISES unveiled a brochure, Active Warm Waters, dedicated to its growing focus on luxury yacht cruising in Mexico and Hawaii. The new brochure, which includes itineraries, rates and information on stopover hotel packages at these destinations through January 2010, was mailed to agents starting in mid-November.
