FRONTIERS: Frontier Airlines won approval from the U.S.
Dept. of Transportation (DOT) to offer new non-stop seasonal
service to Acapulco from Denver. Service begins Dec. 18, with up to
two flights per week. Acapulco is Frontier's seventh Mexican
destination out of Denver; the carrier already serves Cabo San
Lucas, Cancun, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
(seasonal), and flights to Cozumel start Dec. 17. To celebrate the
Acapulco launch, Frontier is offering fares from $124 one way from
Denver, $174 from Chicago and $199 from Atlanta, Minneapolis/St.
Paul and other cities when purchased by 10 p.m. on Sept. 23 for

BAJA: For its part, American Airlines applied to the DOT
to begin serving San Jose del Cabo, in Baja California, from its
New York (Kennedy) hub as of Feb. 4. American plans two flights a
week in peak season and one flight weekly off-peak using 188-seat
Boeing 757's in two-class configuration.
HELPING
HAND: Aeromexico said it will provide free one-way air
travel through Oct. 15 to Mexican nationals from Louisiana,
Mississippi, Alabama and Florida who have been affected by
Hurricane Katrina and wish to return home. Travel to Mexico City is
available from Atlanta, Miami, Houston and Dallas; passengers will
be assisted by local government agencies as needed upon arrival in
Mexico. Applicants are asked to contact the local Mexican
consulate, which will handle verification and provide temporary
