A FARE WAR
HAS ERUPTED on interisland flights, fueled by Mesa Air
Groups start-up carrier, Go. Fares, which had inched into the $80s,
were beat back, first by Gos $39 introductory pricing and then by a
$59 special that was quickly matched by Hawaiian and Aloha. The
outlook is for continued downward pressure, at least through the
summer and likely through the end of the year, as Go works to
establish a niche in a tight market.
