CVBHOTRATES.COM, an online national sales
office sponsored by convention and visitor bureaus, launched the
Planner Perks Reward Program. It enables planners to earn points
for meetings and events confirmed through www.plannerperks.com. Points can be redeemed for
travel, electronics and household goods. Participation in the
program is free to qualified meeting planners.
INDEPENDENT
AND THIRD-PARTY PLANNERS are welcome to join the program,
said Web site President Donovan Shia, as long as they meet the
10-room-night requirement. Shia said independent agents and
planners can quickly find availability and group pricing for their
small group, reunion or other event bookings. Provided the
minimum-night rule is met, there is no charge, he said. Once an
event has been booked, planners log in to confirm and redeem their
points, which are earned based on each room night. We spent our
first year building the technology platform and adding content from
leading cities. This is our second year of operations and we are
now getting into the meat of the marketing plan, Shia said. For
