The first phase of the project features a five-story, covered parking garage, which opened two weeks ago, and 15,000 square feet of new gaming space, complete with more than 500 slot and video poker machines, that is expected to open April 1. Phase two of the project will add 96,400 square feet to the property and will include a Galaxy Movie Theatres 14-screen complex; Vinos Italian restaurant, with seating for 150 people and a walk-up deli counter; a multi-purpose room that can accommodate up to 300 people for banquets, meetings and other events; a 14-table poker room; and an expanded race and sports book area with a 60-inch center viewing screen, 13 oversized LCD television screens and 100 individual 13-inch flat screens mounted on individually lighted player stations with earphones.

Construction on Palms Place, a 50-story, 599-unit condominium hotel and spa, also is planned to begin next year. The new property will be connected to the Palms by an enclosed, elevated moving walkway.

In addition, there will be retail space containing auto- and motorcycle-related items, such as hats, apparel, models, key chains posters and books as well as interactive touch screens, a remote-control racetrack and an area where visitors can have their photo taken in one of two exotic cars or on a custom motorcycle.
