PALACE RESORTS announced the reopening of the Xpu-Ha Palace resort in the Riviera Maya. The property had been closed since July 2005 following damage sustained during hurricanes Emily and Wilma. Xpu-Ha reopened with 144 rooms set in bungalow-style buildings with thatched roofs. Rooms feature two-person Jacuzzis, terraces with hammocks, Farouk bath products and the Palaces own luxury bed. The resort features an animal rescue center with a staff of veterinarians and biologists who care for the animals that live within the propertys 37 acres. BOSTON-BASED TNT VACATIONS, a Mexico specialist, added a hurricane protection provision to its Worry Free travel protection plan. The company is offering a free replacement trip when a vacation is interrupted for more than 24 hours due to a Category 1 or higher hurricane. The hurricane provision only applies when customers purchase the travel protection plan, which costs $95. The hurricane provision is valid for air/land packages of three nights or longer made on or after June 3 for departures from June 3 to Nov. 11.
