A visit to a private island might generate a ho-hum response from most luxury clients, but our guess is that this one probably won't. Richard Branson is making available his Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands, for certain weeks this fall.
Typically the whole island is hired privately by an individual or a group, but during the so-called Celebration Weeks, couples, singles or families can book one of 14 rooms individually and share the island with others.
Per-week rates are start at $25,400 per couple. Stays of three or four nights are priced from $10,900 and $14,500 per couple, respectively. A 2.5% service charge is added to all accommodations.
Arrival dates are: Sept. 17, for seven nights; Sept. 24, for seven nights; Oct. 9, for seven nights, Oct. 16, for seven nights; and Oct. 23, for three, four or seven nights.
Rates include meals and drinks; return launch transfer from Virgin Gorda or Beef Island airports; the services of 60 staff members; two freshwater pools and two Jacuzzis; windsurfing and kite-surfing equipment; sailing and speed boats; kayaks; and entertainment provided by a local calypso band for one party evening. There's also a gymnasium and business facilities.
