Bermuda has been selected to host the 35th America's Cup yacht race in 2017.

The high-profile event is expected to have significant impact on Bermuda's tourism industry, beginning with the America's Cup World Series event next October through to the America's Cup Finals in 2017, according to David Dodwell, chairman of the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

The Royal Naval Dockyard will be the venue for the 2017 event. A multipurpose village will be developed there to provide a spectator setting to watch the races.
